Chipset for Single Board Computer
The chipset controls the Single Board Computer (SBC) and its capabilities. All components on the SBC and through the SBC interface communicate with the processor through the chipset - it is the hub of all data transfer. The chipset uses the DMA controller and the bus controller to organize the steady flow of data that it controls. The chipset is a series of chips attached directly to the SBC, and is usually second in size only to the processor on the SBC. Chipsets are integrated (soldered onto the SBC) and are not upgradeable without a new SBC. TCS SBC's use chipsets that support Embedded CPU's as well as CPU's up to and including the Intel Quad Core CPU's.

Your processor is the brain of your SBC. It is also referred to as the microprocessor or CPU (Central Processing Unit). It interprets all the instructions that it receives from various devices and then executes those instructions, such as telling your printer to print. The faster the processor, generally the faster the SBC will be able to perform those instructions and tasks. SBC/Bus Interfaces are communication pathways to other devices. The SBC is plugged into the backplane via the SBC/bus interface. The backplane will provide expansion capabilities specific to your application and allow the SBC to communicate to other devices through the SBC/bus interface.
